While Denver is battling for the postseason, the Patriots are seemingly fighting for the best draft pick possible. They looked like they were going to test the Kansas City Chiefs at home last Sunday, but the wheels fell off in the second half, leading to a 27-17 defeat. New England has lost six of their last seven games, with that win coming against a depleted Pittsburgh Steelers team two weeks ago. The Pats are tied with the Arizona Cardinals for the second-worst record in the league, both a game ahead of the Carolina Panthers. The Broncos are 31-23 all-time against the Patriots, including winning their last meeting in 2020. Sean Payton's team is still clinging to playoff hopes coming into this matchup at 7-7 on the year. Currently, Denver is the No. 11 seed in the conference, but just a game back of the No. 6 and No. 7 seeds in the loss column. The Broncos will need to win out to give themselves their best shot at ultimately creeping into the wild-card picture, and that does seem pretty realistic as each of their final three opponents are under .500. The key for the Broncos here is to just take care of the football on offense and convert on what few opportunities that might get against a very tough Patriots' defense. On the other side of the ball, it would be good to get a few turnovers but mostly they just need to find some pressure against the quarterback. That was something that was completely lacking in their blowout loss last week. This is a must-win game for them against a team already eliminated from playoff contention, so realistically this game should not even be close given Denver is at home and with so much riding on the outcome. Hopefully we will see them follow through with a convincing win today.
